Located in the municipality of Qaytina, on the right bank of Wadi Hammam, between the villages of Bouhanefiya and Hussein, about 20 km from the city of Mascara, is the Qadiriyya Zaouia, founded by Sheikh Mustafa Ben Mokhtar Al-Ghrisi during the Ottoman period around the year 1200 H. It is the birthplace of Emir Abdelkader.

This Zaouia became a destination for students of knowledge and scholarship, from which many leaders emerged who supported Emir Abdelkader. It was overseen by his family, who turned it into a refuge for the poor and travelers. Here, Emir Abdelkader memorized the Quran and studied under his father, Sheikh Muhiuddin, the sciences of Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Sharia, Usul, and Grammar, mastering them as his father nurtured his education and upbringing.
