The Numidian tower on Mount Mestiri is a watchtower located near Tébessa – Theveste. This tower was built with small-sized materials on a base of six rows of large free stones. It was restored in 1903.

The tower has a cistern located inside the monument that was used to supply water to the defenders of this fortified building. It is worth noting that to facilitate its water supply, its construction was not carried out at the highest point of Mount Mestiri.

The construction of the tower by the Amazighs was necessary to monitor the movements of Romans, raiders, and Byzantines, in order to be able to alert the population in time and better organize their attacks against the occupier.
