Sidi Fredj Forest is a forest located on the Sidi Fredj Peninsula in the Staoueli municipality of Algiers Province. It is managed by the Forest Conservation Authority of Algiers (CFA) under the supervision of the General Directorate of Forests (DGF).

Background

The forest is governed by Decree 84-45 of February 18, 1984, amended and supplemented by Decree 07-231 of July 30, 2007. It covers an area of 44 hectares (110 acres) and contains some tourist facilities and hotels. The forest is home to Aleppo and maritime pine trees.

The forest suffered from neglect, but the government undertook restoration efforts in 2006, during which approximately 1,000 saplings were planted, followed by around 2,000 saplings in 2010, in order to preserve the city’s vegetation cover.

The Mohamed Bouras International Camp in Sidi Fredj is a holiday and recreation center affiliated with the Algerian Muslim Scouts. It is a vacation center that hosts national and international scouting activities in Algeria, bringing together scouts from various municipalities and provinces for each summer camp organized there.
