The Zianid period (1337-1554) is a key period in Algerian history. It was dominated by the Zianid dynasty, which ruled from Tlemcen. Founded by Ziane ben Abi Hadid, this dynasty established a powerful kingdom. It promoted trade and cultural exchanges between North Africa and Europe. The Zianids resisted both the Ottomans and the Spanish. This period saw significant economic and artistic development. There were architectural achievements and advances in poetry. The fall of Tlemcen in 1554 put an end to their domination.
