The Almohad period (1121-1269) corresponds to the rule of the Almohads, a Berber Muslim dynasty founded by Ibn Toumert in North Africa. They overthrew the Almoravids and extended their empire to the Maghreb and al-Andalus. Known for its strict religious reforms, this era unified vast territories. It also saw a cultural and architectural boom, with famous monuments such as Marrakech’s Koutoubia and Seville’s Giralda.
