Built by the Almoravids in the 5th century of the Hijri calendar and restored by the Almohads, Bab El Kermadine is a defensive wall located to the northwest of the ancient city of Tlemcen. Also known as the Gate of the Tilers, it owes its name to the pottery fragments found in the rammed earth used for its construction. Historical records mention this place as the site of an attempted assassination of Yaghmorassen by the chief of his Christian guard.
